The Trumbull County Commissioners held their first meeting of the year Tuesday, welcoming Denny Malloy to the trio.
So will his addition bring an end to some of the infighting in that group?

"I think we are going to do great things together as a board. I hope to lead by example and earn their respect," said Malloy.

Malloy was voted President of the board. He says he plans to try to restore more order to the meetings.

"I hope we continue on with an era of respect that we are all commissioners and we are all elected to be here. We all have constituents who rely on us to do the right thing. I think today was a good step in the first meeting," added Malloy.

Fellow commissioner, Mauro Cantalamessa says he expects meetings to be less contentious.

"We're like-minded in a lot of ways. He wants to run a tight meeting and one that's based on professionalism, respect and hearing each other out so as long as wee keep to those tenants we'll be just fine," said Cantalamessa.

Niki Frencko says she hopes Malloy is ready to make the tough decisions in order to move the county forward.

"I'm hopeful he is going to learn by best practices, by dealing with the county commissioners association, by working with me and not come in and just look around and try to continue status quo by learning from looking around him," said Frenchko.

The regular commissioners meeting for the week will be held Thursday at 10:30am.
