U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown has announced on Thursday that the Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding $2.4 in grant funds to Mahoning County to support the Mahoning Avenue Industrial Corridor Project.

Senator Brown says Ohioans are faced with a heavy burden when they have to pay for upgrades to their local infrastructure.

"Thanks to this investment, Mahoning County will be able to repair critical roadways while creating jobs and attracting new investment," Brown said.

The project will provide roadway upgrades, bridge replacements, drainage enhancements and other necessary improvements to better position the corridor as an attractive place for job growth and business expansion.

The grant is expected to create and retain over 140 jobs and generate $5 million in private investment according to grant estimates.

EDA grants are awarded through a competitive process based upon an application merit, an applicant's eligibility and the availability of funds.
