East Liverpool nurse accused of stealing painkillers from Boardman nursing home patients
A grand jury has handed up an indictment accusing an East Liverpool nurse of stealing pain killers from two residents of a Boardman nursing home.
The Mahoning County Grand Jury on Thursday charged 45-year-old Vanessa Schreffler with theft of drugs, illegal processing of drug documents, and aggravated drug possession.
A report filed by Boardman Police in August, there was a discrepancy dur9ing a routine “pill count” at the end of a shift at Park Center on Market Street.
A supervisor found that four Oxycodone Pills and one Pregabalin pill were missing from a 69-year-old patient, and another Oxycodone pill was missing from a 60-old patent.
According to the police report, a drug test found the presence of THC, Opiates, and Oxycodone in the urine of a practical nurse provided to Park Center by a staffing service.
An official of the nursing home told police that the State Board of Pharmacology would be notified of the incident.
A warrant has been issued for Schreffler to appear in court to answer the charges.
