Two charged after police chase through Canfield gated community

CANFIELD, Ohio - The usual quiet of a gated community in Canfield was interrupted by the sound of a siren as police chased a Jeep through the neighborhood early Thursday.
A Canfield Police Officer says he began following a Jeep that got into Hunter’s Woods main exit gate at around 1 a.m. Police say the Jeep was speeding, driving recklessly, going over a curb and nearly striking the gate.
With overhead lights flashing and siren sounding, the officer tried to pull the Jeep over, according to the police report.
Finally cornered at a dead end, the Jeep stopped. The officer drew his gun and waited for other officers to arrive.
Police say the Jeep was being driven by 30-year-old Nicole Wolford on Youngstown, who has a suspended driver’s license.
Her passenger was identified as 27-year-old Dominic Mashorda of Struthers.
According to the police report, a search of the Jeep turned up marijuana, various powders, pills, crack cocaine, a scale, spoon, and crack pipe. Both suspects denied knowing anything about the seized items.
Wolford was booked into the county jail on charges of driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, failure to comply with a police order, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mashorda is charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Both were arraigned in court that day and face future court appearances next month.
