Hickory state champion golf team honored by Cafaro Foundation

For the second year in a row the state champion Hickory girls golf team were honored by the Cafaro Foundation.
The girls won the PIAA Class 2 A State Tournament by 28 strokes last October.
The Mercer County Board of Commissioners along with the Hermitage City Board of Commissioners congratulated the team along the Cafaro Foundation who donated $10,000 to the school district.
"It means a lot especially coming from Ohio and we're from Pennsylvania, " said junior Sasha Petrochko. "It's so nice they (Cafaro Foundation) recognize us and they really do a nice job."
Coach Craig Antush introduced each player and talked about their journey.
"We're not a real high profile sport to begin with but for them to take the time and recognize us and the girls certainly deserve some type of recognition," said Antush.
The Hornets are the fourth different team from Hickory to win a state championship. The football team along with boys & girls track also won state titles.
In all the Cafaro Corporation has donated over $20 million dollars to various organizations over the years.
The Hornets had only one senior and will go for a three peat in the fall.
