A Salem funeral director has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for bribery.

Fifty-seven-year-old Robert Greenisen had pled guilty to charges of bribery. He was sentenced in the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas to 90 days in jail plus three years of community control.

The bribery charges stem from an incident in April of 2022, when Greenisen deposited an envelope containing a letter and $500 in cash. The letter was written in the third person and was addressed to "Your Honor."

Police identified the only non-law-enforcement vehicle in the municipal court parking lot the day the letter was deposited as that of Greenisen, director of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral Home in Salem.

A copy of the letter was found on Greenisen's computer and Greenisen later confessed to police that he had written the letter.
