Lordstown Mayor not seeking reelection

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - After four decades of serving Lordstown, Mayor Arno Hill has decided not to seek reelection.
Hill tells 21 News he just turned 70 years old and feels like it's time to settle down and spend more time with his family.
"I just turned 70. You never know when to say when, but this is the time I decided to say when and enjoy myself. I'm happy with what's been accomplished," Mayor Hill said.
Hill served as Lordstown Mayor from 1992 to 2003. From there, he served on Lordstown Council between 2006 and 2011, and in 2012, he was reelected as Mayor and has maintained that title since.
Hill tells us during his time as mayor and councilman, he's seen the best of times and worst of times for Lordstown such as the GM Plant coming and going, as well as the construction and opening of the Ultium Cells EV battery plant.
Looking ahead, Hill tells us there is still more to be done for Lordstown's future that he hopes future leadership can continue to work on such as staffing ambulances full time.
Hill also said the village could use a bit more housing and some residents still need things like natural gas.
Hill will serve his last day as mayor on December 31, 2023.
