WASHINGTON - Pennsylvania U.S. Senator John Fetterman's Office has released the latest on his condition.

Senator Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on February 16 to seek treatment for clinical depression.

Fetterman's representatives said the 53-year-old is doing well, working with doctors and is on the path to recovery.

According to the release, Senator Fetterman is visiting with staff and family daily and is being updated on Senate business and news.

"We understand the intense interest in John's status and especially appreciate the flood of well-wishes. However, as we have said this will be a weeks-long process and while we will be sure to keep folks updated as it progresses, this is all there is to give by way of an update," the statement said.

Fetterman assumed office in January after defeating Republican nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz.

During his senate campaign, Fetterman suffered a nearly-fatal stroke and has struggled with the lingering aftereffects.
