About 200 runners and walkers participated in the annual Shamrock N' Run event and raised at least $15,000 for local literacy programs.

The course took the racers through the streets of downtown Sharon before finishing at the Laurel Technical Institute for a post-race ceremony.

Every year, the race raises money for the Primary Health Network Charitable Foundation, according to PHN Chief Executive Officer George Garrow.

"The proceeds from our event will go towards the Charitable Foundation's work to improve literacy, our Little Free Libraries and our Reach Out and Read Programs at PHN," Garrow said.

According to Cheryl Goldstone, the Director of Foundation Program, over 250 books have been given out through the Reach Out and Read Program, and five Little Free Libraries have been installed so far throughout the area.
