Newton Falls School Board holding emergency meeting Friday on resource officer

The Newton Falls Board of Education has scheduled a meeting at 5:00 p.m. Friday regarding the implementation of a school resource officer.
This is following the Newton Falls Exempted Village School district's loss of its resource officer after what Superintendent, Justin Christopher describes as a "miscommunication" between the district and village officials.
The board will be meeting in emergency session to consider an agreement for a new resource officer with the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department that would be in effect immediately.
If agreed upon, the district will have a new resource officer beginning Monday, March 27 through the end of the year.
"Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we appreciate our parents' and community's patience through this process," Christopher said in a statement.
In the meantime, deputies from the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department will continue patrolling the school and doing walkthroughs of the building throughout the day on Friday.
