Officials testing fish tissue in East Palestine area, dead dog shows no evidence of chemical toxicity

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's Office has released an update on animals in the East Palestine area.
Final lab results from a necropsy on a pet dog from the East Palestine area showed no evidence of chemical toxicity as a cause of death. That dog was submitted to the Ohio Department of Agriculture's Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) by a veterinarian in March.
Another dog was submitted to the ADDL for a necropsy on April 11.
If your pet has passed away for an unknown reason, contact your local veterinarian. The public is not able to submit an animal for testing without a vet's order.
The Ohio EPA is testing fish tissue in the East Palestine area.
EPA officials are looking at fish from the North Branch and lower portions of Little Beaver Creek. The testing is being done to help determine if there is any need for fish consumption advisories.
Crews continue to clean the creeks in East Palestine as well. The oxygenation in Leslie and Sulphur runs significantly decreased the contamination levels in the water and air pumps have been moved to focus on sediment cleaning.
