Woman, dog reunited six months after traffic crash in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - A picture is worth a thousand words and you can see that those words are “happy” when you look at a video showing a reunion of a woman and her dog after being separated for six months.
The Mahoning County Dog Warden is telling a story that has a happy ending.
It begins back in October in Austintown when a woman and her ten-month-old puppy “Tank” were involved in a traffic accident on Mahoning Avenue near Turner Road.
While the woman was in a hospital being treated for her injuries, “Tank” was found wandering near the accident site and ended up in the pound.
Not knowing who owned the dog, pound volunteers named him “Wilson”.
It may have been a stroke of good luck when the owner, now recovered from the accident, happened to look at the Mahoning County Dog Warden’s Facebook page on Easter Sunday and spotted a photo that looked like it might be her lost dog.
The first thing Monday morning, the woman called the pound and told volunteers when and where she and her dog became separated.
A visit to the pound confirmed that the woman is Tank’s owner. Video of the reunion shows a smiling woman and a dog so excited; he could hardly stand still.
Tank has now returned to his home.
