Governor DeWine to make stop in Youngstown classroom to discuss 'Science of Reading'

Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine will be making a stop in Youngstown on Thursday to a local elementary school.
The governor will be visiting Paul C. Bunn Elementary School on Sequoya Drive in Youngstown to observe classroom activities and discuss how the "Science of Reading" has been implemented in its lessons and the students' experiences with it.
During his State of the State Address in January, DeWine proposed a new focus on literacy and how reading is taught in Ohio.
"Not all nursery curriculums are created equal and sadly many Ohio students do not have access to the most effective reading curriculum. So in our budget we're making sure that all Ohio children have access to a curriculum that is aligned with the evidence-based approaches of the science of reading," DeWine said."
The governor has been making numerous stops at elementary schools throughout the state to see how this evidence-based approach has been implemented.
DeWine will visit the school at 10:00 a.m.
