Incumbent mayor Franklin will Face Councilwoman Saffold for Mayor of Warren

Incumbent Mayor Doug Franklin defeated his challenger Ken MacPherson for the democratic candidacy for Mayor of Warren.
Franklin said there's a lot of projects he wants to finish if elected for four more years.
“It's a continuation of the park improvements plan. $6.2 million that was just approved by city council unanimously for us to continue, along with the downtown expansion project. Over $100 million with a developer out of the Dayton area and also a $10 million industrial park development on the south west side of town,” he said.
Mayor Franklin also added that the repurposing of the old St. Joseph property is a priority of his.
He will face independent councilwoman Cheryl Saffold - who if victorious will be the first woman mayor of Warren. One key point she wants to focus on if elected mayor is crime reduction.
“Our crime has gone up over the years and I would like to see more police patrols. We know that we are about 13 policemen down, as is across the country, so I would do a massive hiring event to try and recruit law enforcement,” she said.
Saffold said she wants to figure out a way to get people back to warren.
“We want to make Warren vibrant again, a place where people feel safe and where they want to come back and raise their families,” Saffold said.
Meanwhile Franklin said he is poised and ready for any challenge in November.
“It was the citizens of Warren that started this work with me and I want to finish this work with them in the next four years,” he said.
