BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Drivers in Brookfield Township will no longer be able to turn left at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Route 62 as of Thursday.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is reporting that the left turn lane at that intersection is now permanently closed. This is part of the department's Bedford and Broadway Avenue Intersection Improvement Project.

According to ODOT's website, the purpose of this project is to construct a restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT) at the Bedford Road intersection and install a right in / right out at the Broadway Avenue intersection.

As work begins on this project, the areas of Bedford Road and Broadway Avenue will experience various closures and lane restrictions.

A minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained on Route 62. Beginning Monday, May 15, Bedford Road at Route 62 will be closed through mid August.

The southbound detour will be Stewart Sharon Road to State Route 7 to Chestnut Ridge Road and the northbound detour is Broadway Avenue to State Route 82 to Route 62.

The project is expected to be completed by October.
