Boardman mother accused of beating toddler, threatening to kill him

BOARDMAN, Ohio - A Boardman mother is accused of beating her three-year-old son, as well as threatening to stab and kill him.
According to a report from Boardman PD, officers were called to a home on the 700 block of Nelbert Lane shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21 in reference to a woman striking a child and yelling about killing herself.
Upon arrival, police spoke to the witness who told officers the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Amanda Mull was on the second floor with her three-year-old son.
Police say when they went upstairs to speak with Mull, they immediately noticed a black and blue mark on Mull's son's forehead above his right eye where a bump had also formed, as well as several other bruises on his knees.
Mull allegedly told police that the bump on her son's head was from him falling down and the bruises on his knees came from him crawling on the floor. Police say Mull denied making any threats of self harm or suicide.
However, the witness told police she had heard Mull making threats to her son allegedly threatening to stab and kill him as well as herself, followed by allegedly pulling him on the ground threatening to beat his head off of every wall.
The witness went on to tell police she heard a loud noise from upstairs followed by cries from the toddler. Police say when they arrived at the scene, they heard cries from the toddler outside, but he stopped crying once the officers came into the room.
According to the report, the witness told police Mull also slapped and punched her son in the stomach area. Police say they did observe red abrasions on the toddler's stomach.
Another witness told police she saw Mull dragging her son up the steps threatening to hit his head off of each one.
A third witness told officers she received text messages from Mull regarding her being stressed about Child Protective Services (CPS) allegedly being scheduled to come to the house the following day. Police took photos of these messages for evidence.
The toddler was transported to Akron Children's Hospital and police say he's been taken into foster care by CPS.
Mull is currently in the Mahoning County Jail and is facing charges of Domestic Violence and Endangering Children.
