One of the suspects in the murder of a Struthers toddler appeared for a probable cause hearing Wednesday morning.

20 year old Brandon Crump waived that hearing, which means his case will proceed to a grand jury. That panel will determine whether to bring more than a dozen charges in adult court. Crump had initially been indicted on murder charges as a juvenile, but he never had an initial hearing on those charges, which Ohio law mandates.

Two other suspects, Andre McCoy and Kimonie Bryant, are awaiting trial for their alleged roles in the deadly home invasion. Investigators believe they came to the home of Yarnell Green in September 2020 to steal money. During the home invasion, four year old Rowan Sweeney was shot and killed. Green, who would've been a key witness, died after being shot in downtown Youngstown last September. The suspect in that shooting, 23 year old Johnny Serrano, is charged with felony murder.

Sweeney's father David told 21 News that while he won't speculate about who actually fired the shots that killed his son, "justice cannot be served until we are 100% positive that whoever killed Rowan receives their sentence."

Bryant was been in jail since the murder, while McCoy was arrested in January after being on the run for two years. Prosecutors are still working to get their case against him finalized.
