A man accused of texting nude pictures to an 11-year-old girl in Liberty Township has been allowed to plead guilty to a reduced charge.

Otis Arnold, 37, of Akron, pleaded guilty Tuesday to an amended charge of telecommunications harassment, a first-degree misdemeanor. Arnold had been indicted for disseminating matter harmful to juveniles in March.

The charge stemmed from a police investigation that began last September when a Liberty Township man said his 11-year-old daughter received a call from someone who didn’t speak when she answered the phone.

Shortly afterward, the girl received texts of four pictures of a naked man.

When the girl’s father called the number, a man answered but then hung up.

Judge Ronald J. Rice sentenced Arnold to 180 days in the county jail that will be served along with concurrent to a felony conviction out of Summit County.

The family of the juvenile victim agreed to the plea bargain agreement that reduced the fifth-degree felony to a misdemeanor.
