Roof partially collapsed at garage at Becker Funeral Home in Struthers
21 News crews are currently on scene following a partial garage roof collapse at the Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
21 News crews on scene spoke to staff who tell us the roof collapsed in the garage area. No one was inside when it collapsed.
Despite the collapse, we're told by staff business is still going on as normal, as this did not affect the funeral home itself.
We've also been told that the garage building has been marked condemned by the city. Pictures sent back by 21 News crews show a sign on a door reading "Condemned by order of City of Struthers."
Fire crews tell 21 News a "thorough investigation" will be conducted to determine the cause, but crews believe a faulty truss resulted in a domino effect resulting in the collapse.
The funeral home is still open, but the bodies of deceased loved ones stored in the garage area are currently being cooled by a backup generator and will soon be moved to other facilities.
As far as a fix goes, officials are currently waiting for word from the insurance company on where to go next. For now though, very limited people are allowed in the garage area.
