A road project in Warren is at a standstill until further notice because of alleged threats being made from a property owner towards the road crews.

Uneven road signs tell drivers on Anderson Anthony road in Warren that one half is unfinished. This is because Trumbull County Engineer road worker say they fear for their lives after being threatened twice last week.

A police report says Richard Keith of Champion told the workers "I should kill you for parking in my yard."

"It [has] created a dangerous situation and we're concerned about it. We've heard from the union, we have workers concerned for their safety," Trumbull County Engineer's Office personnel consultant Jeff Goodman said.

Keith says the crew disregarded his private property sign and their trucks created a safety hazard. He told police one worker "slapped him in his hand while attempting to photograph the workers."

Goodman said crew members did not hit him.  Witness statements from road crew members allege Keith spat at them, shouted expletives and threatened them.

Keith said their claims are not true.

"I'd be more than glad to take a lie detector test," Keith said.

Warren Township Chief of Police Ben Harrell,  says he advised Keith to stay on his property and for both parties to speak with the Warren City Prosecutor if they want to pursue charges.

Goodman says they are planning to contact the prosecutors office. As for the road work...the engineer's office says it will remain unfinished until their workers are sure of their safety.
