BEAVER TWP., Ohio - A Beaver Township man is behind bars after allegedly having sexual contact with a minor.

According to a police report from Beaver Township PD, 40-year-old Paul McCormick and the victim, who was 12 years old at the time were in a home around late September of 2022 when McCormick allegedly asked the victim to go into the bedroom with him.

Police say the victim continuously refused, but eventually gave in and sat on McCormick's bed. At this time, police say McCormick started inappropriately touching the victim through her clothes.

According to police, the victim was able to pull away and dial 911, at which point McCormick allegedly became frantic telling the victim he would "go to jail forever" and that the victim would go to JJC.

When police arrived on scene, officers say the victim was "frozen" and was unable to tell police what had happened.

Initially, this incident was thought to just be an argument, but around July of 2023, people around the victim found out more details about the alleged encounter that evening, so a written statement was made to police and a charge of gross sexual imposition was filed against McCormick.

On August 17, police located McCormick on the road and conducted a traffic stop and arrested him for the active warrant. He was arraigned on these charges in court and his bond has been set at $25,000 according to jail records.

McCormick is scheduled for a preliminary hearing August 25 in the Canfield Municipal Court.
