Some in Lordstown will be seeing an increase in their sewage rates beginning next year.

Lordstown Councilman Robert Bond tells 21 News Council will meet Monday night at 6:00 p.m. with one of the items on the agenda being a discussion of how much to raise rates.

As it stands, the village's current sewer rate is $6.66 per thousand gallons. The new rates have not been set in stone yet, but Bond tells us they will be between $7.09 and $7.50 per thousand gallons.

Bond says the reason for these increases is a recent sewer rate increase in the City of Warren. Because Lordstown's sewage is processed through Warren, this increase must be passed on to Lordstown residents as well.

"It's unfortunate to have to be looking at the price increase, but when our costs increase, those costs have to be passed on. We have no other choice," Bond said.

The rate increase will affect customers of the east side sewer system in and outside of Lordstown. According to Lordstown's utility clerk, this would affect approximately 560 residents.
