A Salem man will face a small punishment for ignoring the evacuation zone during the East Palestine tanker fire that happening February.

Chad Fowler of Salem, was sentenced to a day in jail with credit for the day already served and instructed to pay a $250 fine.

During a hearing Monday, Fowler plead guilty to disorderly conduct, which was amended from misconduct at an emergency.

Police alleged that Fowler parked his vehicle a few hundred yards from the train crash site inside the restricted area where an evacuation order and curfew was in effect.

Last week,  Frederick Hennan, 43, plead guilty to misconduct during an emergency and two counts of child endangering.

Hennan, one two separate nights, drove a woman and two children in his truck past barricades that had been set up to protect the public from hazardous chemicals still burning in the rail cars.

He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, two years intensive probation, and fined him $600.
