A Trumbull County judge has dealt another legal blow to former Niles mayor Ralph Infante. Infante is serving 10 years in prison after an investigation into corruption during his administration.

A ruling Friday from judge Pat Cosgrove indicated she's not going to act on a request from Infante to stop the state of Ohio from taking $4,000 a month out of his pension to pay for court costs and restitution. That works out to more than $52,000.

Infante filed a motion to fight that back in April, but Friday in a phone hearing, Judge Cosgrove stayed any action from the state for now.
That's because there's still a pending federal court motion Infante filed to have the entire conviction thrown out.

In 2018, a jury convicted Infante, 67, on a slew of counts.
Those included tampering with records, gambling, operating a gambling house, theft in office, having an unlawful interest in a public contract, falsification, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
