While the clean up process in East Palestine may be moving slower than some may have wanted, progress is still moving along.

Beginning Monday, October 23, East Taggart Street, a main road in East Palestine, will be open to the public during the day - with a catch.

A reduced speed limit has been implemented near work areas and periodic traffic interruptions should be expected.

Waits during the interruptions are expected to be up to or exceed 15 minutes to allow trucks to enter and exit the work site.

Phase 3 of the street's reopening is expected to begin next year in January.

During that time, the street will be open all day to traffic with continued control until the site cleanup operations are complete.

On Sept. 25,  East Taggart Street reopened during the night to the more than 3,000 cars and trucks that travel it daily.

The stretch of road had been closed because of the risks associated with heavy traffic from cleanup crews.
