The Mercer County Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal crash on Interstate 80 on Wednesday in Mercer County.

34-year-old Anthony Eugene Mallory of Rochester, New York died from injuries following the multi-vehicle crash.

The road was closed from Interstate 376 eastbound interchange to Exit 15 (Route 19, Mercer), but has since re-opened.

The deceased was a passenger in one of the vehicles in the multi-car and truck pile-up.

According to the Pennsylvania State Highway Patrol, multiple people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash happened on I-80 at the 14-mile marker. The report said that 8 to 10 vehicles were involved.

The Mercer County Coroner and First Responders from several fire departments were dispatched to the multi-vehicle pileup along the highway shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Callers told dispatchers that several trucks and cars were involved in a crash about a mile before the Route 19 Mercer interchange.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation stated in a press release that there is also a slowdown for I-80 westbound traffic as well as other routes in the area between West Middlesex and Mercer, saying drivers should expect delays on roadways, including Route 62 and Route 318.

The crash is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
