National Honor Society students from Jackson-Milton High School raised more than $1,000 for the local Disabled American Veterans organization.

The money raised is part of a fundraiser the students raised last month to raise these funds, which included a district-wide sale of American flags.

The money raised will benefit DAV and contribute to a "Field of Flags" display in front of the high school as a tribute to veterans, according to a news release from Jackson-Milton.

"Every year we look for different ways to honor veterans that correspond with our Veterans Day program," said Jean Reyes, supervisor of the National Honor Society. "This year, when I came across the 'Field of Flags' campaign I knew this was a perfect way for students to honor veterans for their sacrifices and service."

One hundred and two American flags will be displayed in front of Jackson-Milton high school reflecting the donations from the district. The flags will be displayed beginning November 6.
