Football: South Range faces Perry in regional final rematch
The (12-1) South Range football team plays undefeated Perry in the Division V, Region 17 Regional Final Friday at Twinsburg.
It's a rematch of the 2022 Regional Final when South Range defeated Perry 49-21 en route to a State Championship.
"They have a lot of athletes, a lot of their good players are back from last year," said Tristan Toy, Raiders quarterback.
South Range has cruised through the playoffs beating their opponents by an average of 28 points, while the Pirates defense has held their opponents to an average of six points a game this season.
"Defensively, they don't give up anything easy so you got to earn it and it will be a great challenge for us," said David Rach, Raiders head coach.
"We're counting on a 12-rounder and we have to play a great football game to win it," Rach added.
The Raiders have won 11 straight games since losing to Green in week two and are looking to punch their ticket back to the State Final Four for the second year in a row.
"We have to be able to run the ball, all of us," said Toy.
"We have to be able to stop the run, they have some good backs that can run the ball too so we got to stop them," Toy added.
