NILES, Ohio - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers have announced on Monday that its home turf, Eastwood Field has been named "Field of the Year" for 2023 by the Ohio Sports Field Management Association (OSFMA).

According to a press release from the Scrappers, the Field of the Year award recognizes athletic fields in Ohio that exhibit "excellent playability and safety and whose managers utilize innovative solutions, effectively use their budgets and have implemented a comprehensive agronomic program."

The Scrappers, along with Eastwood Field Head Groundskeeper Noah Bard will accept the award at the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation (OTF) Conference and Show in Columbus on December 6.

"This would not be possible without the efforts of my game day grounds crew. I can't thank them enough for their help," Bard said.

Bard also thanked the Scrappers front office and his wife Kendra for their support. Mahoning Valley Scrappers General Manager Heather Sahili thanked Bard as well.

"Noah and his team work tirelessly to keep Eastwood Field in amazing condition for over 150 events at the facility throughout the year including Scrappers games, Youngstown State University Baseball, high school games, charity walks, concerts and more," Sahili said.
