Warren man convicted of Palm Sunday murder to spend rest of life in prison

WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man who was recently convicted of killing a man and wounding his girlfriend on Palm Sunday may have been spared the death penalty, but he will still be spending the rest of his life behind bars.
Thirty-year-old Kashaun Williams was handed his sentence of life in prison plus 81 to 86-and-a-half more years on top of that, all without a chance of parole.
He was sentenced on charges of kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated murder and attempted murder, all with firearm specifications, as well as felonious assault and having weapons under disability.
The charges stem from a murder that occurred on Palm Sunday in 2023 when Williams killed 34-year-old James Chapman and wounded his girlfriend, 23-year-old Martina Moore on the 600 Block of Lener Avenue.
The death penalty was considered for Williams, but a jury ultimately decided on life without parole.
Trumbull County First Assistant Prosecutor Chris Becker says he "could not be more satisfied" with this sentencing and did not mince words when describing Williams.
"[Williams] is an absolute menace. He's a psychopath. He deserves to die in prison and that's hopefully what's going to happen, and without a doubt that's going to happen with this sentence today," Becker said.
