EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been updated from it's original version to correctly identify the councilwoman running for fifth ward in Warren.

The Trumbull County Board of Elections held a meeting on two matters Tuesday morning and denied taking any further action on both of them.

Firstly, the Board discussed a request for a hearing from current Warren Fifth Ward Councilwoman Ashley McBride arguing against the appointment Tiffany Stanford into her seat in the Fifth Ward.

According to a letter sent to the Board by McBride, the current councilwoman argues that she cannot legally be sworn in to the position because she had relocated her residence outside of Warren's Fifth Ward.

McBride says she believes this to be a violation of Ohio's residency laws governing Stanford's appointment.

The Board motioned to deny this hearing since it is not in its realm and will instead redirect McBride to approach Warren Law Director Enzo Cantalamessa if she still wants to follow up on an investigation on Stanford.

Additionally, a petition for a referendum for an ordinance in Newton Falls that would authorize an amended employment agreement with City Manager Pam Priddy was rejected as well.

The Board rejected the petition voting that this is an administrative act and not legislation. This motion can be challenged by the Ohio Supreme Court should the party feel it necessary.

This request came after Councilwoman Julie Stimpert asked for a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the ordinance, which would increase Priddy's salary to $30,000 a year with six weeks vacation.

A hearing considering the TRO was set for November 30, but according to court records, it's been continued to December 15. No action will be taken on whether or not to implement this ordinance until the outcome of this hearing.
