Woman covered in blood after alleged beating at Boardman Plaza

BOARDMAN, Ohio - People working and shopping at the Boardman Plaza tell police they witnessed the bloody beating of a woman on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, 30-year-old Christopher Edmondson of Garfield Heights is charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault for allegedly punching the woman repeatedly outside a hardware store.
Witnesses say the woman was knocked down striking her head on a stack of firewood outside the store.
When officers arrived, the woman was on the ground surrounded by a group of people. The woman had a gash above her eye and her face, hair, and hands were covered in blood.
Edmondson was found nearby and placed under arrest.
The woman claims Edmondson, her boyfriend of one month, took her keys and wallet. She told officers that the assault occurred as she was trying to get her wallet back.
The woman was taken to Mercy Hospital in Youngstown.
Edmondson, who also has arrest warrants from the Cleveland area, was taken to the county jail.
A court hearing was scheduled for Thursday. Another hearing is set for next week.
