Masseuse cleared of sexual misconduct allegations at the Grand Resort in Warren

Between May and September of 2021, two different women reported allegations of sexual misconduct against massage therapist Daniel Sharfal at The Grand Resort in Warren.
According to a report from the medical board, a woman, referred to as Client 1, was getting a couple's massage with her spouse, when Sharfal allegedly "...led her arm above her head and across her body, the Draping became displaced and her left breast was exposed."
During that same massage "her right breast was exposed." And while Sharfal massaged her thigh, "when the draping was not properly protecting her private area, Mr. Sharfal's thumb grazed Client 1's vagina."
A former employee of Sharfal, referred to as Client 2 in the report, states, "...he went to use my right arm to pull it out, he took the sheet and uncovered my boob."
The board initially recommended a six month license suspension and $6,000 dollar fine.
Sharfal denies any wrongdoing and points out what he calls "inconsistent testimony."
For instance, Client 1 told the board she'd voiced an objection in a loud voice, but Sharfal's response says it "wasn't heard by the other two people in the room, who were just a few feet away."
Sharfal also described a contentious relationship with Client 2, saying she "harbored ill feelings towards Mr. Sharfal...did not report the alleged misconduct until after being demoted..."
The Response says "Mr. Sharfal has been licensed since 1996 and has never had allegations of improper touching or draping issues from any client..."
The Grand Resort released a statement that reads: "The state medical board is able to fairly consider both sides and ruled that there was no basis to the allegations. The Grand Resort stands by today's ruling by the State Medical Board."
Sharfal is on probation pending completion of draping and boundary courses.
21 News reached out to Sharfal for comment, but he has not yet responded.
