Mercer and Lawrence Counties, PA - PennDOT has announced that as of Friday afternoon, all vehicle and speed limit restrictions in Mercer County have been lifted.

These restrictions came in various tiers. Each tier will be explained below and all roadways affected by those restrictions will be listed.

Under tier 1 restrictions, the following vehicles are prohibited on the roadways:

- Tractors without trailers

- Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers

- Tractors towing unloaded or lightly-loaded cargo delivery trucks / box trucks that meet the definition of a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)

- Recreational vehicles / motorhomes

- School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches

- Motorcycles

Tier 1 restrictions were in place on I-80 from the Ohio state border in Mercer County to the New Jersey state border, but have since been lifted/

Under tier 2 restrictions, all vehicles impacted by tier 1 are still impacted along with the following vehicles:

- Commercial vehicles towing loaded tandem trailers without chains or alternate traction devices (ATDs)

- All loaded or unloaded school buses commercial buses and motor coaches regardless of availability of chains of ATDs

Tier 2 restrictions were in place on I-79 from the I-80 interchange in Mercer County to the West Virginia state border, as well as I-376 from the entire length of the highway from Mercer County to Allegheny County.

These restrictions have been lifted for both routes.
