PennDOT grants $380K to remove traffic light at dangerous Sharon intersection

PennDOT has come up with $380,000 for a project designed to make an intersection in Sharon less dangerous.
According to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the funding will go toward a road improvement project in Sharon that will see the removal of the traffic signal at East Connelly Blvd. and Spencer Avenue.
It will also go to extending the median to restrict turns at the intersection, while creating turnarounds for local traffic.
There have been several accidents along the stretch of road, including a crash on November 5, 2021, which claimed the life Michael Davies, a 43-year-old Greenville man.
The intersection is in the middle of a curve, partially obstructing views for drivers turning onto the freeway, as well as those traveling westbound on the freeway approaching the intersection.
