A new person will be in charge of the Boardman Local School District this summer.

Superintendent Tim Saxton announced his decision to retire at the end of his contract Thursday.

Saxton has spent over 40 years in the Boardman Local School District as a student, summer worker, principal, director of operations and the last eight years as superintendent.

In a message posted to the district's website, Saxton said his 3-year retire/rehire contract is coming to an end and that he won't be signing a new one.

His last day as superintendent will be July 31.
