A man has been sentenced to nine months in jail for trying to lure a teenager into prostitution.

Timothy Wiggins, who turns 55 this week, pleaded guilty last month to charges of compelling prostitution and importuning. Ohio law defines importuning as soliciting someone for sex acts.

Wiggins was arrested in Youngstown last September for importuning. When he was indicted in January, the Mahoning County Grand Jury added the charge of compelling prostitution.

Police say he offered the teen cash in return for a sex act.

Wiggins was originally scheduled to be sentenced last week. When he failed to appear in court, Judge Scott Krichbaum issued a warrant for his arrest.  Wiggins has been in the county jail since February 13.

Judge Krichbaum also declared that Wiggins must register as a sex offender.
