IKEA has issued a recall on USB chargers sold in its stores due to a potential burn and shock hazard.

According to the recall notice, IKEA recalled its AKSTORM 40W USB chargers due to risks of the USB cable becoming damaged or breaking over time, which in turn could pose a burn or electrict shock hazard.

These chargers were sold in IKEA stores across the U.S. and Canada as well as IKEA's website between April of 2020 and December of 2023 for about $30.

They consist of a charger and detachable power cord with a C7 connector and plug. The model number ICPSW5-40-1 is printed on the back.

So far, IKEA has received 17 reports of incidents with these products including five reports of burns and four reports of electric shock. None of these incidents or injuries happened in the United States so far.

Anyone who has purchased a recalled charger should immediately stop using it and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. No receipt or proof of purchase is required to receive the refund.

If you are unable to return it to a store, you can instead contact IKEA for instructions on how to dispose of the product and receive a full refund.
