YOUNGSTOWN - As the once-in-a-lifetime solar experience approaches this April, a group that stages athletic events in the region is celebrating the eclipse by hosting a virtual 5K run.
Dubbed 'Outshine the Dark', participants can run or walk the 5k distance at their convenience, anywhere they choose, from now until the end of April. Participants are encouraged to find locations where they are safe and can marvel at the eclipse while engaging in physical fitness. Every finisher will receive a commemorative medal and shirt to remember this unique celestial event.

Anyone wanting to receive their limited edition items must register by March 29 to ensure that they will be received in time for the solar eclipse event.
Registration for Outshine the Dark 5k can be found HERE and donations collected during registration will be given to a mental health cause located within Columbiana County.
Information on other races hosted by GCXC Youngstown is located on their website, including their upcoming Shamrock Run on Saturday, March 16.
