Middle School students from Crestview Local Schools recently took first place at the State competition, qualifying them to compete in the VEX World Robotics Competition in Texas.

The 2024 VEX Robotics World IQ championship is set to take place May 1-3 in Dallas, Texas. 420 teams from around the world will compete against each other. Competitors will be students between the age of 13 and 15.

The theme of this year's game is "Full Volume." Crestview and Columbiana students secured their spot for winning the most points as an alliance at the State Championship back on March 2.

The students will have a chance to work in alliances with teams from around the United States as well as countries like Australia, China, Ghana, Taiwan, Vietnam and New Zealand.

They'll have a chance to win awards over a three day period. Teams are judged based on a few different aspects which include creativity, quality, and build-quality of their robot. They're also being judged on their teamwork skills, and their engineering notebook.
