Pennsylvania Representative, Parke Wentling (R-Mercer), announced that the Borough of Sharpsville was awarded $500,000 by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for existing owner-occupied housing in partnership with the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership.

The funding is through the HOME Investment Partnership Program, which provides municipalities with grant and loan assistance to expand and preserve affordable housing. HOME program funds can be used in a variety of ways to address critical housing needs, including market-oriented approaches that offer opportunities such as home ownership or rental activities to revitalize communities with new investment.

"With housing availability decreasing and housing prices rising throughout the country, this funding will help folks find quality housing at a more economic price here at home," Wentling said.
