The Lakeview Local Schools Board of Education hired one of its former students as its new superintendent Monday afternoon.

The board announced it has hired Ashley Handrych, a Trumbull County Lakeview graduate, as the superintendent beginning the 2024-2025 school year.

Handrych has eighteen years of service in the field of education - including as a special education teacher, an elementary school counselor, Director of Federal Programs, Director of Food Services, and a building principal at Lakeview Middle School.

Handyrch began teaching in 2006 and received her principal service license in 2015, followed by her superintendent license in 2020.

The board unanimously approved her hiring.

She will replace Velina Taylor, who has been with the district since 2019.
