Trumbull County Children Services place pinwheels to raise awareness for abused, neglected children

WARREN, Ohio - April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and a local organization is doing its part to raise awareness on the issue.
Trumbull County Children Services has kicked off its annual 'Pinwheels for Prevention' campaign.
The display has more than 1,100 pinwheels, each representing one report of child abuse in Trumbull County in 2023.
They also represent the adults who became an advocate for a child by reporting suspected abuse or neglect.
Officials with Trumbull County Children Services noted some of the symptoms you should look for if you believe a child is in danger.
"Usually, you see withdrawn children or children whose behavior changes significantly over a period of time because they're battling the trauma of whatever they've experienced," Marilyn Pape, Executive Director of Trumbull County Children Services, said.
According to the Center for Disease Control, 1 in 7 children experienced abuse or neglect in the last year.
All calls to Children Services are 100% confidential and play a huge role in keeping kids safe.
