Boardman Police find barking, crying dog locked in disabled car

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - A dog kept in a locked car for weeks in Boardman is now under the care of the Humane Society.
People living at apartments on the 3900 block of South Schenley Avenue called the police that a dog was in a parked car, barking and crying for days.
Police say they found the dog last week in a trash-filled Ford Fusion with a flat tire, cracked windshield, and damage to the front end.
The dog had no food or water, according to a police report.
Officers spoke with a man who lives at the apartment, who said he is the son of the dog’s owner, who is currently homeless.
The son, who said that his father comes to the car about once a week to give the dog food and water, agreed to turn the dog over to humane authorities.
As of Tuesday, police had not charged anyone.
