VIDEO: Boardman Police investigate reported dog attack, shots fired; Two people hospitalized

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - Police converged on a quiet neighborhood in a usually quiet neighborhood after getting reports of a dog attack and shots fired.
Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, a dispatcher was told that a dog had bitten someone at a home on Wilda Avenue between Market Street and Southern Boulevard.
The dispatcher was told that people evacuated the home, but there was still at least one person inside. There was also a report that two to six shots were fired.
When officers arrived, they saw a dog in the home’s backyard.
The dog returned to the home where a man was barricaded in the basement.
Mahoning County Deputy Dog Warden Dave Nelson tells 21 News the dog was shot in the leg at least one time, but the dog was secured inside a cage.
Two people have been taken to the hospital. Nelson tells 21 News the dogs must quarantine for 10 days. Nelson says this is an owned dog, but he does not know who the owner is.
