Construction of a proposed methadone clinic in the former JCPenny in the Austintown Plaza has been placed on hold.

Austintown Zoning inspector Darren Crivelli tells 21 News a representative from Concerted Care Group had called the zoning office Friday and informed Crivelli that construction of the clinic has been "indefinitely postponed."

Crivelli tells us the reason the company gave for the postponement was that Concerted Care Group is working on a lot of other projects as well and is choosing to focus more on those at the moment.

We're told the company is aware that the approval expires in May of 2025 and the Concerted Care Group representative told Crivelli that he has no objections to the space being leased to another tenant.

21 News has reached out to Concerted Care Group for further comment and we are waiting to hear back.
