As the Summer weather continues to creep into Ohio, that also means another less welcomed thing is right around the corner - road projects.

The Ohio Department of Transportation recently released a list of projects expected to begin or be completed this year on several major roadways in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Below is a complete list of everything expected to take place and where in the Valley:

MAHONING COUNTY:

Interstate 76 - Noise walls: construction of a noise wall along the north side of I-76 just east of State Route 534 in Milton Township.

  • Start: April
  • End: September
  • Cost: $1.1 million
  • Traffic Impacts: Traffic will be maintained on I-76. I-76 westbound ramp to SR 534 will have various closures. A detour will be posted.

Interstate 680 - Resurfacing: Resurfacing of I-680 from Gibson Street to just south of U.S. 224 in Youngstown and Boardman Township. Nine bridges will also be repaired.

  • Start: 2023
  • End: December
  • Cost: $13.5 million
  • Traffic impacts: One lane traffic will be maintained on I-680 during non-peak travel times. Various weekend and nightly ramp closures.

Interstate 680 - Noise walls: Expected to go in along the east side of 680 between Midlothian Boulevard to south of Matthews Road in Youngstown and Boardman Township.

  • Start: November
  • End: November 2025
  • Cost: $8 million
  • Traffic impacts: None.

Interstate 680 - Lighting improvements: Upgrades will be made at the 680 and Midlothian interchange in Youngstown and Boardman.

  • Start: April
  • End: October
  • Cost: $1.4 million
  • Traffic Impacts: One lane traffic will be maintained in each direction on 680 during non-peak travel times.

U.S. 224 - Culvert replacements: two culverts will be replaced on U.S. 224 east of SR 534 in Berlin Township.

Culvert one:

  • Start: 2023
  • End: June
  • Cost: $800,000
  • Traffic impacts: U.S. 224 will be closed for 14 days. A detour will be posted.

Culvert two:

  • Start: May
  • End: August
  • Cost: $900,000
  • Traffic impacts: U.S. 224 will be closed for 15 days. A detour will be posted.

State Route 11 - Noise walls: Construction will begin along SR 11 between Mahoning Avenue to north of New Road in Austintown.

  • Start: March
  • End: October
  • Cost: $2.7 million
  • Traffic impacts: None

State Route 14 - Slope repairs: Repairs will be made on SR 14 west of Lisbon Road in Green Township.

  • Start: June
  • End: September
  • Cost: $700,000
  • Traffic impacts: SR 14 will be closed for 28 days. A detour will be posted.

State Route 165 - Resurfacing: Resurfacing will be done from South Range Road to Columbiana County line in Beaver and Springfield townships. Project will also include intersection improvements at SR 165 and SR 617.

  • Start: April
  • End: July
  • Cost: $1.3 million
  • Traffic impacts: One lane of traffic will be maintained by flaggers during the project.

State Route 170 - Pavement replacement: Pavement and curb replacement on SR 170  between SR 630, south of East Middletown Road in New Middletown and Springfield Township. This project also includes installing a new drainage system and implementing access management.

  • End: October 2025
  • Cost: $8 million
  • Traffic impacts: Southbound traffic on SR 170 will be closed during the 2024 and 2025 construction season. Various intersections will be closed for 30 or 60 days. Detours will be posted.

TRUMBULL COUNTY:

U.S. 422 & State Route 5 - Resurfacing: work will include resurfacing from North Leavitt Road to SR 305 and on SR 5 from south of U.S. 422 to just south of West Market Street in Warren, Champion, Southington and Warren Township.

  • Start: April
  • End: September
  • Cost: $6.4 million
  • Traffic impact: Traffic will be maintained on U.S. 422 and SR 5 throughout construction.

State Route 5 - Slide repair: This will be on SR 5 eastbound, east of Mahoning Avenue in Champion.

  • Start: April
  • End: July
  • Cost: $500,000
  • Traffic impact: SR 5 eastbound will be one lane during construction.

State Route 5 - Resurfacing: Work will be on SR 5 from SR 82 and SR 46 in Bazetta Township and Cortland.

  • Start: April
  • End: July
  • Cost: $1.5 million
  • Traffic impact: None

State Route 5, 45 & 87 -  Bridges repairs/replacement: Replacement of the SR 5 bridge east of Burnett East Road, the SR 45 bridge  between Airport Road and Prentice Road in Vernon & Champion. This project also includes repairs to SR 87 bridge east of SR 534 in Mesopotamia.

  • End: October
  • Cost: $1.6 million
  • Traffic impact: State Routes 5, 45 & 87 will all be closed for 30 days. Detours will be posted.

State Route 5/82 - Lighting upgrades: improvements will be made at the SR 5/82 interchange at U.S. 422, Perkins-Jones Road and Elm Road in Warren, Bazetta & Champion.

  • Start: September
  • End: June
  • Cost: $2.2 million
  • Traffic impact: Traffic will be maintained during construction.

State Route 7- Bridge deck replacement: The project will be done north of SR 88 in Vernon Township.

  • Start: May
  • End: August
  • Cost: $1 million
  • Traffic impact: SR 7 will be closed for 45 days. Detours will be posted.

State Route 11 - Resurfacing: Work will be north of SR 82 to King Graves Road in Vienna. This project also includes minor bridge repairs.

  • Start: September
  • End: November
  • Cost: $2.4 million
  • Traffic impact: One lane will be maintained in each direction on SR 11. Weekend and nightly ramp closures will occur. All detours will be posted.

State Route 46 & 88 - Micro surfacing: work will be done on SR 46 between SR 87 and SR 88 and on SR 88 from SR 46 to the western side of Mosquito Lake in Greene and Mecca.

  • Start: April
  • End: September
  • Cost: $5 million
  • Traffic impact: One lane traffic will be maintained by flaggers on SR 46 & SR 88.

State Route 46 & State Route 82 interchange - Reconstruction:

  • Start: 2023
  • End: June 2026
  • Cost: $19 million
  • Traffic impact: One lane will be maintained in each direction of SR 46 and SR 82. Various weekend closures of ramps at the SR 46/SR 82 interchange. East Market Street  to SR 82 eastbound will be closed during multiple stages of the project. Detours will be posted.

State Route 46 & 169 - Resurfacing: Work will be done between SR 169 and Niles Vienna Road. It will also be done between SR 169 between SR 46 and east of Russell Avenue in Niles. Minor Bridge repairs are also included.

  • Cost: $1.4 million
  • Traffic impact: Traffic will be maintained.

State Route 46 -Resurfacing: To be done from the northern Cortland corporation limit to SR 88 in Bazetta and Mecca.

  • Start: June
  • End: November
  • Cost: $1.6 million
  • Traffic impact: Traffic will be maintained.

State Route 46 - Drainage improvements: This will be done along SR 46 north of Prospect Street to Gilbert Drive, which also includes adding a curb on the eastside of SR 46 from north of Prospect Street to Ohltown Road. This also includes resurfacing of SR 46 within project limits. Work completed in 2023 included all drainage improvements. Work to be completed in 2024 includes resurfacing and final striping.

  • Traffic impact: One lane traffic will be maintained by flaggers.

State Route 534 - Resurfacing: To be done between Hallock Young Road and Maple Drive in Newton Falls and Newton Township.

  • Cost: $1.3 million
  • Traffic impact: Traffic will be maintained throughout construction.

State Route 534 - Resurfacing: Will be done between SR 88 and SR 87 in Farmington and Mesopotamia. Also includes minor bridge repairs.

  • Start: June
  • End: November
  • Cost: $1.8 million
  • Traffic impact: Traffic will be maintained during construction.
