A Cortland man is among the chosen few finalists in a national steak grilling competition.

According to a press release, Donnie Russell of Cortland is one of just seven finalist in Longhorn Steakhouse's seventh annual "Steak Master Series" competition.

Russell along with his six opponents will all be competing for the grand prize of $15,000 and the title of Steak Master Series Champion in a grill off in Orlando, Florida on May 2.

According to the release, Russell has been a part of the Longhorn Steakhouse team for nearly 10 years, working at the chain's Niles location but this is his first time as a finalist in the competition.

"I've had a great journey so far with Longhorn and this is just another level that I never thought I could achieve. It's so great just to be here at this stage competing against some true legends," Russell said.
