Choffin Career and Technical Center hosts first "Market Day"

Seniors at Choffin Career and Technical Center got an opportunity to bring their learning outside of the classroom Friday morning.
The school's first ever Market Day showcased products and services developed by students, which were available for visiting students and members of the community to purchase. Press-on nails, skin products, and school merchandise were among the most popular items for sale.
"It opened a lot of doors," Cosmetology senior Zaniya Keaton tells 21 News. "When I [go to college] I'm going to get my license and work in a salon."
Students also demonstrated program-specific skills, including music production and creating virtual avatars with artificial intelligence-powered software.
For teachers, the market presented an opportunity to show how classroom resources put students ahead of the curve, and the ability to inspire the next generation of learners.
"Now the community gets to see what's happening here at Choffin," Real-Time 3D Technology Instructor Don Hileman said. "And the things that all the students are doing across all the programs are absolutely amazing."
