Instructional signs installed at Wick Park workout stations

YOUNGSTOWN - The Youngstown State University Campus Recreation and the Healthy Community Partnership give people another reason to enjoy Wick Park on Youngstown’s Northside.
Signs giving instructions on how to use workout stations have been installed at the park by Community Recreation Graduate Assistant Dalton Campana.
The signs provide users with QR codes and picture demonstrations to teach people how to safely use the equipment. This allows community members to feel comfortable exercising with the equipment.
“I really liked the idea of doing the fitness stations because it gives a feel of virtual, verbal, and image-based. All of which create a sense of comfortability and confidence to perform fitness routines in the park system,” said Campana who helps provide free outdoor exercise classes at neighborhood parks in Youngstown and Warren.
The park also has a course for disc golf enthusiasts.
The effort is part of the Mahoning Valley Outside 365 Initiative which was created to increase usage of neighborhood parks for recreation year-round to improve community health.
